Sadio Mane Comments On Seeing Red After Horror Tackle

Liverpool star Sadio Mane has commented on his challenge on Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson which saw him sent off.

Two-Goal CR7 Snubbed In UCL Team Of The Week

In the 5-0 defeat to the Citizens last weekend, the Senegal international was shown a straight red by referee Jon Moss after he caught the Brazilian goalkeeper in the face with a high boot.

Talking after the Red’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, the African star said he didn’t expect to be dismissed by the match official.

"Honestly, I was focusing more on the goalkeeper than the card, and when I saw the red card I was surprised because I was expecting a yellow card," Mane told Sky Sports.

"But I'll accept it and try to forget it. I was going for the ball, and I didn't have the intention to hurt him because I'm not that kind of player. I wish him a quick recovery.

"It's not easy for me because I love to play football and I enjoy helping my team to win games."

Reports: Why Barca Didn't Sign Former Real Star

The former Southampton star was given a three match domestic ban, meaning he will miss the Merseyside club's games against Burnley and the Leicester City.

I think this boy was high on something illegal. How can you expect a yellow when you tackle someone like that?

But Mr Mane come on...you nearly killed your opponent with your high foot up.Yes it was not intentional but in the same breath was dangerous and reckless.Walker received a dubious red card against Everton ...Stirling received a red card against Bournemouth for Celebrating with City fans but it was never big issue.Just move on man it happened ...it's history now and your appeal was even rejected by FA which suggests Mr Jon Mos was right to send you out for non-intentional Chinese kick on Ederson.
