The 29-year-old playmaker has completed a surprise switch to the Merseyside club for around £20 million (R442 million), six years after his big-money move to Los Blancos.
Rodriguez has signed a two-year deal at Everton with the option of a third, and immediately becomes one of the biggest names in the Premier League, despite his struggles in recent seasons.
According to The Guardian, the Colombia international has taken a huge salary cut to reunite with his former Real and Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti, which has taken many by surprise.
The ex-Monaco midfielder is believed to agreed to a weekly wage of around £140 000 (R3.1 million) in England, which is someway off the £280 000 (R6.2 million) per week salary he was earning in Spain.
Despite his reported 50% wage cut, Rodriguez is Everton’s new highest-paid player and will be hoping to return to his best form in one of the world’s most competitive league.
