Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba, who has not been in Jose Mourinho’s good books, might not play against cross-town rivals Manchester City in the Manchester Derby on Saturday and here is the reported reason why.
The Citizens host Mourinho’s side in their second Premier League meeting of the season this weekend. If Guardiola’s City would grab all three points, they will be crowned champions of England.
According to the Express, United’s midfield star Pogba could be once again left out of his manager’s plans for the tie, despite the Frenchman putting in an improved performance last week.
The report claims the 25-year-old’s recent fitness issues could keep him on the sidelines once again, as he has been carrying a hamstring injury for some time.
However, it has not just been injuries that has seen him lose his place in United’s starting XI, but many of his performances have earned him criticism from Mourinho.
The pair were reported to have fallen out after the Red Devils’ 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur the league in January, following a poor performance that resulted in the Portuguese substituting the club superstar.
Pogba has not contributed to a goal in his last seven league matches, though from those last seven appearances, he has only played three full games.
City are just one win away from making it mathematically impossible for anyone to catch them at the top of the league, as they are currently 16 points clear of second-placed United with just seven games to go.
