Reports: Premier League Club Launches £52m Bid For Real Madrid Target
A Premier League club has reportedly launched a £52 million (R870 million) bid for a superstar who has been heavily linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid in recent months.
According to AS, English side Chelsea have stunned Los Blancos by making the first move to sign Argentina striker Mauro Icardi from Serie A giants Inter Milan.
Zinedine Zidane's men are believed to be interested in the attacker, although they have been stalling on making an official offer for the 25-year-old.
It has been suggested that this hesitation has allowed the Blues to beat the reigning UEFA Champions League winners to an opening bid.
Manager Antonio Conte is looking to beef up his frontline for next season as he only has Alvaro Morata and former Arsenal star Olivier Giroud to currently choose from.
The Argentine is not set on where he wants to play his football next season, and this uncertainty has given the London club some motivation in trying to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
Icardi's agent Wanda Nara, who is also his wife, took to the Italian press recently to play down talk surrounding the striker's future and hinted that her husband could sign an extension with Inter.
"We're all very relaxed. We're optimistic about his renewal. When I bump into the sporting director, we laugh. Sometimes I joke that Mauro's value increases with each day that passes, but there's serenity in the air, no tension," Nara told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"When you renew a contract, you do it to improve the conditions that are already there. But we haven't thought about the conditions or the figures yet."
The Argentine has made 26 appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, scoring 22 goals and assisting one further strike.
