According to ESPN, the Spaniard is keen to revamp Manuel Pellegrini's ageing squad when he takes over at the end of the campaign.
Guardiola is still chasing three titles with Bayern Munich, but has apparently already told City's leadership to start working on his transfer targets.
The report claimed the Citizens could spend over £300 million (R6.4 billion) after Guardiola identified a few weaknesses in City's current squad.
He apparently wants to bring in a goalkeeper, two new centre backs, two fullbacks, a central midfielder, a winger and another striker.
FC Barcelona shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been heavily linked with City, while Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are reportedly Guardiola's preferred centre-back options.
In midfield, Ilkay Gundogan is said to have agreed a deal in principle, while Guardiola and his scouting team are still trying to find the fullbacks and striker they believe they need.
