New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has reportedly spoken to one of Liverpool's primary transfer targets over the phone in a bid to convince him to snub the Merseyside outfit for the London club.
According to the Daily Mirror, the former Napoli manager has been in contact with Brazil international Alisson Becker in an attempt to steal the player from under Liverpool's noses.
Sarri, who recently replaced Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, has already landed Italy international Jorginho from his former side in a deal worth £50 million (R869 million).
The 59-year-old is hoping to beat Liverpool to a deal for Alisson, with reports linking current Chelsea No. 1 Thibaut Courtois with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
However, the Brazilian, who plays for AS Roma in Serie A, has apparently already agreed to join Liverpool this season, in a deal worth £66.8 million (R1.16 billion), according to the Liverpool Echo.
Sarri, though, will hope his personal call will be enough for Alisson to change his mind before he officially puts pen to paper with the Merseyside club.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper made 49 appearances for Roma last season, keeping 22 clean sheets along the way.
