Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly ready to bid £50 million (R873 million) for an England international who had an outstanding 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has caught the attention of Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, who is looking to beef up his defensive options ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Interest in the centre-back, who joined the Foxes from Hull City in a £17 million (R297 million) deal in July 2017, has sky-rocketed after his impressive performances for the Three Lions in Russia.
England manager Gareth Southgate picked the 25-year-old for the World Cup this year because of his calm temperament and mental toughness, according to the Daily Mail, two qualities Mourinho is said to be looking for in his next defender.
Maguire could replace Phil Jones or Chris Smalling in the Portuguese tactician's line-up, as he has effectively done in the England set-up.
The transfer window for Premier League clubs closes on 9 August, which means Mourinho does not have a lot of time to get any deal over the line.
Maguire made 44 appearances for the Foxes last season, scoring two goals and assisting a further three strikes.
