Reports: Manchester United Star Issues Jose Mourinho A Warning Ahead Of Next Season
A Manchester United star has reportedly told manager Jose Mourinho that he is only willing to stay at the club if a certain promise is made.
Ivory Coast international Eric Bailey often found himself on the bench during the last few months of the 2017/18 season, despite being fit and available.
According to the Daily Star, the centre-back has let the Portuguese tactician know that he is "very happy" at Old Trafford, but will not accept being benched like he was towards the end of the season, and wants guarantees that he will be more of a regular starter.
Mourinho had claimed previously that the Ivorian had been put on the bench because he wanted to give certain players an opportunity to make their national squads for the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
England duo Chris Smalling and Phil Jones played the majority of the games in the final weeks of the campaign, leading some to believe that they are the club's first-choice pairing.
The former Chelsea boss is apparently on the lookout for defensive reinforcements in this transfer window, with the Red Devils being heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur's Toby Alderweireld, among others.
Bailly, who was injured for a large portion of the campaign, made 18 appearances for United in 2017/18, and found the back of the net once.
