It is believed that Manchester United are preparing to make a world-record offer for one of the most sought-after African stars in world football.
According to the London Evening Standard, Kalidou Koulibaly has emerged as United’s main transfer target ahead of next season.
The Senegal and Napoli defender has impressed heavily this season in Italy, as well as in the UEFA Champions League despite his team being knocked out of the competition.
Reports have claimed Koulibaly could command a world-record transfer fee for a defender of around €100 million (R1.5 billion), with some reports saying the 27-year-old has told Napoli he wishes to leave the club.
United are apparently willing to wait until the end of the season to make an offer for the African defender, as they aware that of the overly-inflated market that January usually brings.
Since joining Napoli in 2014, Koulibaly has played 190 appearances for the club.
