Reports: Manchester United & Manchester City To Start Bidding War For African Star
Manchester United and arch-rivals Manchester City are reportedly getting ready to start a bidding war for an African midfielder.
According to Manchester Evening News, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho's clubs are eyeing Nice and Ivory Coast star Jean-Michael Seri.
It has been suggested that the Portuguese tactician has made the midfielder a priority in recent weeks, and is hoping he will be one of several new faces to arrive at Old Trafford next season.
Guardiola, however, is also said to be looking for a steady midfielder, and although he has been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk's Fred in recent months, he has turned his attention to Seri as per the Manchester newspaper.
It is believed that the Mourinho will be making at least one midfield signing for next season as he will need a replacement for Michael Carrick, who is retiring at the end of this campaign.
"The Red Devils will sign at least one midfielder to replace the retiring Michael Carrick, while City are looking for a long-term successor to Fernandinho," a source told Manchester Evening News.
The 26-year-old has made 35 appearances for Nice so far this season, scoring one goal and assisting a further seven strikes.
