Reports: Manchester United Close To Sealing R505m Target
Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly close to sealing the signing of a €35 million (R505 million) target.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Red Devils have moved a step closer to signing Monaco and Brazil star Fabinho.
The versatile footballer was one of his Ligue 1 side's top performers last season, during which he helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and claim the French top flight trophy.
Fabinho can play in central midfield, at centre back and at right back, meaning he could cover three vital positions Mourinho would like to strengthen next season.
The Italian newspaper has reported that the two clubs have already agreed terms, and that the fee is expected to be about €35 million (R505 million), with a €5 million (R72 million) bonus linked to goals and appearances.
The player fuelled these rumours on Thursday night, when he confirmed he would be open to a move to Old Trafford. During a live television interview, the Brazilian international was asked if he would be keen to move to United if the opportunity arose.
"It's a tempting invitation," he told Esporte Interativo.
"I would first talk to my agent, Monaco too, to decide everything right, but it's a great club. Sure enough, I would think well about it."
The 23-year-old made 55 appearances for Monaco last season, scoring 12 goals and assisting six further strikes in all competitions.
