Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is said to be looking to add a few more attacking options to his squad, and is reportedly considering forking out £62 million (R1.07 billion) for a 2018 FIFA World Cup finalist.
The Portuguese tactician is said to be a big admirer of Croatia international Ivan Perisic, who scored a goal and assisted another strike in the final of the world showpiece in Russia on Sunday.
According to the Daily Metro, Serie A giants Inter Milan will not allow their prized asset to leave the San Siro for anything less than £62 million (R1.07 billion), a fee that has increased since United's previous bid for the player in a prior window.
The Red Devils made a £35 million (R609 million) bid for the winger last June, but the Milan side refused to budge on their £48 million (R835 million) valuation at the time.
Mourinho was apparently very impressed with Perisic's World Cup campaign, and is willing to sign the frontman at any cost.
The 29-year-old made 39 appearances for Inter last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further 11 strikes.
