Reports: Manchester United Boss Jose Mourinho To Bid £40m For English Starlet
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to offer £40 million (R673 million) for an English starlet who is expected to replace the out-of-favour Luke Shaw at Old Trafford.
According to The Sun, the Red Devils are looking for a recognised left back for next season, and have turned their attention to Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon.
The 17-year-old has taken English football by storm in this campaign, and has caught the attention of Mourinho and his scouting department.
The left-sided player is among the Championship's top goalscorers this season, and has been tipped as "the next Gareth Bale" by many who have seen him play.
Sessegnon would be expected to be a direct replacement for Shaw, who is said to be on the way out after his latest bust-up with the Portuguese manager after the Red Devils' FA Cup quarter-final win over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Ashley Young has made the left-back position at the club his own this season, but Mourinho will want to get a specialist in some time soon.
Sessegnon has made 41 appearances for the London club so far this season, scoring 14 goals and assisting a further five strikes.
