Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly drawn up an eight-man shortlist of potential centre-back signings for this transfer window.

The Portuguese tactician is believed to be on the lookout for a central defender after Sweden international Victor Lindelof, who has been linked with a move to Everton, struggled to adapt following his 2017 move to Old Trafford from Benfica.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils have been closely linked with Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld in recent months, but it seems the two clubs are some way apart in their valuations of the Belgium international.
The Old Trafford side is believed to value the defender at £50 million (R881 million), which is about £20 million (R352 million) less than what the London side wants for him.
However, it has been suggested that Alderweireld is not the English giant's top target, but remains an option should they struggle to get anyone else.
Also on Mourinho's reported list of potential centre-backs is Raphael Varane of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng, Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli, Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar, Alessio Romagnoli of AC Milan, Atletico Madrid's Jose Gimenez and Caglar Soyuncu of Freiburg.
The former Chelsea boss has signed at least one centre-back in each of his two seasons at Old Trafford so far, and is expected to do so again in this window.
