Manchester United have reportedly made a bid worth €60 million for an unhappy Real Madrid star, but the player has seemingly rejected the English giants.
It is no secret that Mateo Kovacic wants to leave Los Blancos, and he seems prepared to force a move away from the club.
The Croatia international has revealed that he wants more game time, something Real will struggle to guarantee with midfield trio Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro expected to start.
United have now entered the race for the midfielder, and reportedly offered €60 million (R930 million) for his services, but the 24-year-old is understood to not be keen to play under Jose Mourinho, according to Marca.
Kovacic is said to doubt he would flourish in Mourinho's pragmatic system, and would prefer a move to a club with a more attacking style of play.
The midfielder, who joined the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners three seasons ago, is expected to return to Los Blancos for pre-season next week, and new coach Julen Lopetegui is reportedly keen to convince him to stay.
So far, the Spanish giants have rebuffed offers from Manchester City, AS Roma and Bayern Munich for Kovacic, who Real apparently consider to be Luka Modric's long-term successor at the club.
