Reports: Manchester City To Hijack Barcelona Deal
Rumours in Spain suggest FC Barcelona have all but secured the signing of one of Europe’s best forwards, but new reports claim Manchester City are ready to hijack the transfer!
Report: Messi Wants Barca To Sign Bayern Star
Spanish publications such as Sport and AS have claimed that Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann is on his way to the Catalans at the end of the season.
But according to Diario Gol, however, City are also looking to involve themselves in the race for the Frenchman’s signature, by offering Atletico one of their star players.
The report suggests that Pep Guardiola could offer striker Sergio Aguero in a part-exchange deal for Griezmann, which would also include a transfer fee of £44 million (R740 million). City’s boss is believed to feel that Aguero’s injury problems are not likely to improve as he gets older, while he also feels the Argentine might be tempted as Atletico is his former club.
Griezmann was said to be close to join City’s rivals Manchester United at the start of the season, but decided to stay in Spain due to Atletico’s transfer ban.
While he might be tempted by the offer, it is widely believed that Griezmann could sign for the Blaugrana, where the No.7 shirt lies vacant.
The 27-year-old has found the back of the net 24 times and assisted a further 13 strikes in 39 matches this season across all competitions.

Aguero has also been in fine form, scoring 30 goals and assisting seven strikes in just 37 games.
