With Jurgen Klopp seemingly looking for a centre-back partner for Virgil van Dijk, the Liverpool manager has reportedly given African star Kalidou Koulibaly a phone call about a potential £63 million move.
Reports suggest that the German boss is desperate to sign the Napoli defender in the upcoming transfer window, and has apparently taken the first few steps to make that happen.
According to French publication Le10Sport, Klopp has personally called the 28-year-old on his phone to discuss a potential transfer for the player.
The Senegalese centre-back has been tipped to leave Italy in the next window, and has a number of suitors, including Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

It is claimed that Koulibaly could cost about £63 million (R1.3 billion), despite Napoli demanding £100 million (R2.1 billion) for his signature at the end of last season.
With Dejan Lovren linked with an exit from the Reds, Klopp apparently sees the Senegal international as a priority signing, and thus has tried to convince him of a move to Merseyside.
Koulibaly has played 233 matches for Napoli since his arrival at the club in 2014.
