Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reportedly wanted to sell one of his unwanted players and it's now been revealed why a move didn’t happen.
The Portuguese lured Alexis Sanchez to the Old Trafford, making him the highest paid player in the Premier League, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan left the club.
However, it has now been reported that versatile left-back Daley Blind, who has somewhat fallen down the pecking order at United, was offered to AS Roma.
"We started to hear something about Emerson before the transfer window opened,” the Italian side’s sporting director Monchi said, as quoted by Calciomercato.
"Blind was one of many names, he was offered and we evaluated him.
"We concluded he wasn’t a player suited to us, not least for financial reasons."
After starting the first three Premier League games, Blind has only managed to play another four minutes for United in the league but was often used in UEFA Champions League and the domestic cups by Mourinho.
Overall, he has made 139 appearances for the Red Devils, but it seems he could be on Mourinho’s axe list when the window opens again.
