Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been urged to sign a Croatian star ahead of Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and Chelsea's Willian.
According to the Sunday Times, Red Devils scouts have told the Portuguese tactician to end his pursuit of the Welshman and the Brazilian as they believe a better option is available.
It is understood that Mourinho would like to sign a new winger in this transfer window, and his scouting department has suggested that he go after Eintracht Frankfurt star Ante Rebic.
The 24-year-old, who had a terrific 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with Croatia, helped his country reach their first final in the global showpiece final, which they ended up losing 4-2 to France.
Relic would presumably fill the vacant right wing role, but it seems Mourinho is not entirely sold on the former Fiorentina star.
Rebic, who would be a cheaper option to Bale and Willian, made 28 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt last season, scoring nine goals and assisting a further three strikes.
