The 56-year-old was reportedly involved in a heated exchange with Danny Rose after the England international was left out of the club's 0-0 draw with Watford on Saturday.
According to the Daily Mail, Rose requested on explanation for not being in Mourinho's matchday squad, with the Portuguese coach telling the player he was not in the best shape following a recent back injury.
"Yeah, he is part of my plans," Mourinho said on Saturday when asked about Rose's absence.
"Last match, FA Cup match at home, very offensive team. We wanted to give another chance to (Ryan) Sessegnon to play 90 minutes.
"Today Rose had a little injury in his back, yesterday we made a decision to bring only fit players to a match that we knew was going to be physical."
Rose, though, seemingly felt he was fit to play and once again took the matter to his coach on Sunday, which resulted in the pair raising their voices, with onlookers describing the scene as "a big tension in the air".
On Monday, Mourinho took Rose aside and had a one-on-one session with the left-back.
