Spanish giants FC Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a shock move for one of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United outcasts.
According to The Sun, the Catalan side is considering on taking the out-of-favour England international Luke Shaw on a season-long loan in the next campaign.
The former Southampton left back has slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford since the Portuguese manager’s arrival and during the time has faced numerous amounts of criticism regarding his fitness and overall work-rate.
The 22-year-old, who is said to be fed up with life under Mourinho, has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent months but it seems like there is serious interest coming out of Spain.
It is believed that finances are quite tight at the Camp Nou at this moment in time, after having splashed large sums of money on Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho in recent months.
The Blaugrana, who are looking to strengthen their squad once again, want to land Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann at the end of this season and if they manage to do so they may not have much cash available to buy the much needed defensive cover they require.
The report suggests that Barcelona are willing to take a risk with Shaw and if he impresses then it is believed that they may be willing to make the deal permanent down the line.
The defender has made 19 appearances for the Red Devils this season, only seven of them have been in the Premier League.
