Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea will reportedly turn to an Arsenal striker should they fail to bring in Edin Dzeko from AS Roma.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Blues are considering making a move for France international Olivier Giroud, who is said to be keen on leaving the Emirates in this transfer window.
Chelsea are, however, said to be in advanced talks with the Serie A club Roma over the possibility of signing former Manchester City star Dzeko, but negotiations are apparently slow.
Blues boss Antonio Conte may need to abandon the chase for the Bosnian should nothing change in the next couple of days, which could be why he has turned his attention to Giroud.
The Frenchman has been linked with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks, and may be used in a swap deal that would see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang going the other way, but that transfer also seems some way off at this point in time.
Chelsea are said to be desperate to bring in another striker in this transfer window, but seem to be struggling to get deals over the line.
Giroud has made 25 appearances for the Gunners so far this season, scoring seven goals.
