Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United have been put on alert as an FC Barcelona star is reportedly growing frustrated with his contract situation at the Camp Nou.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Blues and the Red Devils are keeping a close eye on Spain international Jordi Alba, who is currently involved in a contractual stand-off with the Blaugrana.
The left-back enjoyed a standout 2017/18 campaign with the LaLiga champions, but is not happy that he is being forced to wait so long for a new deal.
The defender, who is included in his country's 2018 FIFA World Cup squad, was promised a new contract 18 months ago and has still not been offered one, according to his agent Vicente Fores.
"(When) Raul Sanllehi (now at Arsenal) was still at the club, when they told us not to worry, that they were going to call us to renew," Fores told Spanish publication Sport.
"But we are still waiting. It's been a year and a half now. We don't understand anything, maybe it's normal for Barca, or maybe they're not happy with the performances of a player included in FIFA's XI and who is the defender with the most assists in European football."
Jose Mourinho is said to be on the lookout for a first-choice left-back in the transfer window as Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian are likely to be sold in the coming months.
Chelsea, however, have Marco Alonso and new recruit Emerson who play in the same position as Alba, and it seems unlikely that the Stamford Bridge club will want to sit with three left-sided defenders.
Alba, 29, made 48 appearances for the Catalan club in 2017/18, scoring three goals and assisting a further 12 strikes.
