According to The Times, the Blues are looking at France international Anthony Martial as a potential replacement for the Belgian star, who could be on his way to Real Madrid.
The Frenchman, who seems to have fallen down the pecking order at United, is said to be looking for regular first-team football this season, and according to his agent, he is ready to leave Old Trafford.
Juventus were thought to be frontrunners for the forward's signature, but the Bianconeri's record-breaking acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo has left the Martial transfer in limbo for now.
It has been suggested that Chelsea will need to offer the Red Devils about €100 million (R1.57 billion) should they want to acquire the 22-year-old's service, a fee they are apparently unwilling to pay at this moment.
The London club may also lose another attacking threat in this window, though, with Brazil international Willian said to be in talks with FC Barcelona, according to the Daily Mail.
New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri apparently feels Martial can cover either Hazard or Willian's departure, but knows the player will need time to adapt to a new environment.
