According to The Sun, Blues manager Antonio Conte is trying to sign former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko and defender Emerson Palmieri from the Serie A side.

The Italian club apparently values the pair at £77 million (R1.3 billion), but Chelsea are said to be only willing to pay about £44 million (R744 million) plus Michy Batshuayi on a six-month loan.

Roma are said to be demanding £57 million (R964 million) for the former Premier League star, while Palmieri is valued at £20 million (R338 million).

It has been suggested that Conte is desperate to adding another striker to his squad, and has identified Dzeko as the right man to push Alvaro Morata for his first-team place, while Palmieri would add cover at left back.

The defender's agent, Fernando Garcia, has confirmed that Chelsea and Roma are in talks.

"Of course, yes, absolutely, the two clubs are now talking, we'll see if it will be successful," he said, as quoted by The Sun.

"There's still nothing certain, we are in a stage of discussion and evaluations.

"It would be a dream: Conte is a top manager, one of the best and most successful in the world."
