Reports: Chelsea Identify Antonio Conte Successor
Chelsea and coach Antonio Conte could reportedly soon go separate ways, with latest reports suggesting the Blues have already identified the Italian’s potential successor.
Conte won the Premier League in his first campaign in England but this season things are not as rosy as many had expected.
The 48-year-old appears to be in a constant power struggle with Blues owner Roman Abramovich, with both seemingly not being able to agree on transfer targets.
As a consequence, former FC Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has reportedly been identified to succeed Conte after the season.
However, Match of the Day pundit Nathan Blake insists it’s weird that Conte and Abramovich are constantly at loggerheads.
“The rumour gets stronger and stronger and it’s an interesting one,” Blake told Match of the Day, as quoted by the Express.
“There seems to be some kind of power struggle, I don’t know.
“I don’t really understand it because it is a fantastic club and really all you have to do is manage the players.
“Most people should agree that if you had that job at the helm, life should be pretty easy.”
Chelsea currently sit in third spot in the Premier League and are also still present in FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.
