The Premier League champions have been linked with a host of names in the current window, and could soon announce a double signing from AS Roma.
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues are closing in on Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri after the two clubs held positive talks on Sunday.
Dzeko's agent is reportedly ready to travel to London to finalise personal terms after Roma decided to cash in on the striker, who turns 32 in March.
"Whatever will be will be," Roma sporting director Monchi said when asked about the Dzeko rumours.
"I work every day to have players suitable to replace our players, my job is always to strengthen my club. If Dzeko leaves Roma, we'll buy another player."
Roma reportedly need to raise £36.7 million (R617 million) in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, and Chelsea are understood to be prepared to pay £44 million (R740 million), plus another £8 million (R134 million) in add-ons, for the duo.
It has also been claimed that fullback Palmieri will join the Stamford Bridge club irrespective of whether or not Dzeko does too.
