Reports: Arsenal Stars Gang Up On Mesut Ozil
Germany superstar Mesut Ozil is the highest paid player at Arsenal, but new reports suggest that a number of the club's players have complained to management about the playmaker.
According to The Sun, a number of Arsenal's senior players are unhappy with how many times the midfielder has declared himself unavailable for matches this season.
Ozil missed Arsene Wenger's last home match in charge of the club at the weekend, while the manager also revealed in a pre-match interview that the player is not expected to feature in the remainder of the season.
It has been claimed that Ozil has not started 25 of the Gunners' 58 matches this season, and was allowed to sit out the club's UEFA Europa League group stage games, as well as those in in both domestic cup competitions.
Some of his teammates are said to be annoyed by his apparent "prima donna" attitude, and have taken the issue up with the club's management following his most recent absence from the squad.
Many of the 29-year-old's injuries this season have been questionable, with some believing he essentially decides when he wants to play.
Earlier in the campaign, Ozil put pen to paper on a deal worth £350 000 (R5.9 million) a week, making him the highest earner at the club.
His teammates could be frustrated that a player on that kind of salary is not showing the desire to play every single game as a result.
Ozil has played 35 games across all competitions for the Gunners so far this season, scoring five goals and assisting a further 14 strikes.
