Reports: Antoine Griezmann Demands 'Huge' Wage To Join Manchester United
Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann is linked with a move to Manchester United, but will reportedly only join the Old Trafford club if they match his substantial wage demands.
According to The Sun, the France international is demanding a staggering £400 000 (R6.7 million) a week to snub Spanish giants FC Barcelona and join the Red Devils.
The 2016/17 UEFA Europa League winners have apparently offered the 26-year-old a contract worth £290 000 (R4.82 million) a week, but the player is seemingly not happy with that wage.
"The goalposts have moved significantly since the first attempt to sign Griezmann," an Old Trafford source told The Sun.
"The package offered last year, which was agreed, is now a lot less than what he wants next summer.
"It might be too much even for us to afford. The club is desperate to sign him, but it is an awful lot of money.
"His people are making different demands which the club might be reluctant to give in to."
The Blaugrana are said to be monitoring Griezmann quite closely, and are willing to pounce on the versatile striker should they not land any of their other attacking targets in this window.
The striker has made 22 appearances across all competitions for Atletico so far this season, scoring eight goals and assisting six further strikes.
