Reports suggest that Romelu Lukaku has all but secured his exit from Chelsea just a year after becoming the Blues' most expensive signing in history.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Belgium international will be on his way back to Inter Milan on a loan deal following an underwhelming season in the Premier League.
Returning to the club as its most expensive signing of all time, many believed the 29-year-old was set to become a vital cog in the wheel for Thomas Tuchel, but his 15 goals in 44 matches across all competitions tell a different story.
Just a few months into his Stamford Bridge return, a controversial interview he did with an Italian news outlet, in which he criticised Tuchel and how he was being used in England, was released, leading to a difficult period on the sidelines for the striker.
He will now, however, be looking to put that all behind him as he closes in on a loan move back to Inter. Romano reports that Lukaku has agreed a significant pay cut in order to secure his exit from the Blues.
It is said the ex-Manchester United forward will undergo his medical in Milan next week ahead of his transfer, which will cost Inter €8 million (R134 million) up front and a further €4 million (R67 million) in add-ons.
