Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly identified an FC Barcelona midfielder as the man to replace Fernandinho next season.
Club captain Fernandinho is reportedly set to leave the Citizens at the end of the current season when his contract expires.
The 35-year-old has been a key component of Guardiola's side in the past few seasons, and continues to impress as they go in search of a treble this term.
However, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Guardiola is looking to bring in a replacement for the Brazilian and has identified Miralem Pjanic as that player.
Pjanic joined Barcelona from Juventus before the start of the season but has failed to cement a spot in Ronald Koeman's starting XI at the Camp Nou, making just 17 LaLiga appearances to date.
It is further claimed that Guardiola is expected to reach out to his former club regarding a potential move for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, who was an unused substitute in the Blaugrana's win over Valencia on Sunday night.
If the Citizens are unable to secure Pjanic's services, the Spanish tactician could reportedly turn his attention to Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Philips.
