Report: Manchester City To Pay LaLiga Star's Release Clause
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly looking to pay a LaLiga star's release clause in order to secure his signature.
Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte has been on the radar of several clubs in recent seasons, with City said to be one of those after the Frenchman.
According to The Sun, the Citizens are considering a move for the 23-year-old, whose release clause is said to be set at £60 million (R1.01 billion).
It has been claimed that Guardiola is a long-time admirer of the centre back, who made his senior debut in 2012.
Laporte, considered among the best young defenders in the world, is yet to make his senior debut for France, and could qualify to play for Spain.
The player is believed to have been monitored by many of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Chelsea, FC Barcelona and PSG.
Laporte has played 30 games for Bilbao so far this season, scoring one goal and assisting three further strikes.
