Salah's current deal with the Reds only expires at the end of next season, but the two parties are still locked in negotiations regarding an extension, with the club facing the risk of losing their talisman.
The Daily Mirror has now reported that while Salah is looking to earn €400 000 per week (R7 million) with the new contract, the Merseyside club is not keen meeting that demand.
The Reds have already secured new long-term deals for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson and Jordan Henderson, among others in the past few months.

It is further claimed that Salah's camp feel the wage demands are not excessive and the player is said to believe he should be in the same pay bracket as Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne.
Salah is currently on international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, but remains the top scorer in the Premier League this season with 16 goals.
