Liverpool reportedly offered Philippe Coutinho to Real Madrid in a deal that would have seen one of Los Blancos' superstars move to Anfield before the start of the season.
According to a report from Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo, Real had interest in the Brazil international.
However, the Reds demanded €70 million and Gareth Bale for Coutinho according to a new book "PSG: Revelations of a Revolution".
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a big admirer of Bale and reportedly had 'no hesitation' in putting his weight behind a possible deal.
Neverthless, Coutinho remained at Liverpool after the summer transfer window but eventually secured a move to Barcelona in January.
Bale, meanwhile, continues to be linked with an exit at Los Blancos, with Chelsea and Manchester United believed to be keen on the Welsh winger.
