The Portuguese tactician has already secured the services of 22-year-old centre back Victor Lindelof for €35 million (R507 million) from Benfica.
While recent reports have linked the Red Devils with a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo, Sky Sports believe Mourinho has other targets.
After United struggled to convert many of their chances last season, and with it having been announced that Zlatan Ibrahimovic's contract will not be extended, Mourinho apparently wants to add more firepower up front.
He reportedly wants to pounce for Los Blancos stars James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata, who will be aiming for more game time next season.
In addition, Ivan Perisic is understood to be his main target to improve the left wing.
So, how could United line up next season?
Here is what Sky Sports suggested:
David de Gea will apparently remain at Old Trafford after Real shifted their focus to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
In front of the Spaniard, Antonio Valencia, Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw could form Mourinho's new regular back four.
Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera will form Mourinho's new central midfield pairing, while Marcus Rashford could take up the position on the right wing.
Rodriguez would become United's new playmaker, while Perisic would fill the left wing, with Morata being fielded up top as the club's new main striker.
