Chelsea have reportedly identified a replacement for defender Antonio Rudiger, who will be leaving at the end of the season.
Blues manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed this week that Rudiger will be leaving the club when his contract expires, after the defender rejected their last offer.
The Germany international is reportedly expected to join Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer next season, but it seems the Blues have found a replacement in Spain.
La Razon have reported that the Blues are lining up a move for Spain and Villarreal defender Pau Torres ahead of the 2022/23 season.
The 25-year-old has starred for both club and country over the last year and his performances have caught the eye of some of the bigger Premier League clubs.
Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested in the defender, who has a buy-out clause of €55million.
Tau previously revealed that Villarreal has left the decision to him even though they could have got a lot of money for his services last season.
"The president didn't put pressure on me, even though they could make a lot of money. He always said 'the decision's yours', that he'd respect it. I appreciate that," Torres told the Gaurdian in November.
"What I could experience with the club was unrepeatable. I'm comfortable in my town, with my close people, and the group we have and the people we signed – [Arnaut] Danjuma, Boulaye [Dia], Gerard [Moreno] renewed. I'm enjoying it. It's a special year, the group is very close, that's why I stayed."
