Aaron Ramsey is yet to sign a new deal with Gunners, and Emery is set to have replacement lined up should the Welshman leave.
According to the Daily Mirror, Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega has become Emery's top target as he looks to bolster the club's midfield.
The Argentine previously worked under Emery at Sevilla, where they won two Europe League titles together.
Banega was linked with a move to the Gunners in the recent transfer window, but the Daily Mirror has now claimed Arsenal will revisit the move in the January transfer window.
