Liverpool have written Premier League history by becoming the fastest side to win the league, but they fell short of claiming the record for the quickest title triumph in Europe’s top five leagues.

The Reds won their first league title for the first time in 30 years on Thursday night, after Chelsea’s win over Manchester City made it mathematically impossible for the Citizens to catch Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Remarkably, Liverpool achieved their feat with still seven league games remaining, the fastest a Premier League side has been crowned champions in history.
The champions, however, fell just short of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1-winning campaign in 2015/16, in which it took the French giants only 30 matches to secure the trophy.
Only one other team, Bayern Munich, has managed to win a league title with seven games to spare, doing so under Spanish tactician Pep Guardiola six years ago in the German Bundesliga.
Manchester United’s most emphatic title win came 19 years ago, while Spanish rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid share the record in LaLiga.
