Result: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Manchester City

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Jose Mourinho got one over his former rival Pep Guardiola as Tottenham Hotspur moved top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Manchester City.
Out of nowhere the home side took the lead. Tanguy Ndombele caught the City defence cold with a floated ball over the top. Son took a neat first touch and charged into the box. Ederson commited himself, but the forward slotted a low strike through the Brazilian into the back of the net.
With 15 minutes gone, City won a free-kick following a foul by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on Gabriel Jesus. Kevin de Bruyne put his cross on the money for Rodri to power a header at goal. However, he sent his effort straight at Hugo Lloris.
City had a goal ruled out after VAR consultation in the 32nd minute when Jesus was adjudged to have handballed after Rodri put the ball in to the back of the net.
First Torres and then Mahrez tried to bundle their way through the Spurs defence. Torres falls to the ground, while Mahrez is crowded out. Jesus pounces on a loose ball in the left inside channel, but smashes his strike into the side-netting.
Rodri rolled the ball into the path of de Bruyne five minutes after half-time and the Belgian playmaker took it in his stride before rifling a strike towards goal from 20 yards. He connected well with his effort, only to send it wide of the right post.
Spurs notch a second goal as Giovani Lo Celso scored with his first touch after coming off the bench. Harry Kane released the Argentine into the left inside channel with a precise offload and Lo Celso took a good first touch and slid his low strike into the bottom-right corner past the onrushing Ederson.
From there on in, Spurs would successfully shut up shop in typical Mourinho style and come away with a clean sheet and three massive points.
