Rampant Man City Jump To Second Spot

Manchester City moved up to second spot in the Premier League standings with a 4-0 triumph over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Ederson, Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker were back in the side after recovering from Covid-19, although Palace were without Wilfried Zaha after tested positive.

After a slow start, the Citizens got their opening goal on 27 minutes as Kevin de Bruyne's superb cross was nodded home by John Stones.

While Palace were unable to test City goalkeeper Ederson, the hosts nearly added a second goal in the 38th minute but Guaita was on hand to keep out Jesus' diving header.

The second goal arrived 10 minutes into the second half when Gundogan won the ball off Andros Townsend before finding the top corner from just outside the area.

Stones capped off a memorable by adding his second and City's third goal in the final 20 minutes with a powerful finish from close range after Ruben Dias' initial header was saved.

Raheem Sterling rounded off the scoring for the Citizens with two minutes left on the clock after sending a curling free-kick into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Sheffield United 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-1 success over struggling Sheffield United.

The North London outfit went ahead after just five minutes as Serge Aurier nodded home Son-Hueng Min's corner at the near post.

Jose Mourinho dictated play in the early stages but were unable to turn that dominance into more chances for the likes of Son and Harry Kane.

Sheffield, who only got their first win of the season last week, struggled to care out chances of their own as Burke went closest in the first stanza with a strike from distance that forced Hugo Lloris into a save.

The North London outfit managed to grab a second goal five minutes before the break thanks Kane's impressive finish from the edge of the box.

The Blades got themselves back into the contest just before the hour mark when David McGoldrick nodded home John Fleck's cross into the far corner.

However, Spurs restored their two-goal advantage three minutes later thanks to a superb finish from Tanguy Ndombele that left Aaron Ramsdale with no chance.
