Result: Manchester City 1-0 Sheffield United
Date: 30 January 2021
Manchester City cemented top spot in the Premier League on Saturday with victory over Sheffield United at the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola made five changes from the midweek win, which included starts for Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte in the defence.
The Citizens broke the deadlock on nine minutes when Ferran Torres did well to skip past two challenges before squaring the ball for Gabriel Jesus to tap home.
Unlike previous matches, the Citizens struggled to carve out any more openings despite enjoying a lion's share of the possession in the first half.
Sheffield, who were in high spirits after beating Manchester United this week, barely offered anything going forward as Ederson enjoyed a quiet opening 45 minutes.
It was more the same in the early stages of the second half, with the Blades quite happy to sit back and soak up the pressure.
The Citizens had to wait until the 70th minute for a sight at goal as Bernardo Silva was denied by Aaron Ramsdale, who kept out Laporte's header moments later.
