The game got off to a lively pace, with both sides looking to attack in the opening exchanges as Spurs went close on seven minutes when Rodrigo Bentancur was denied by Alisson Becker.
The Reds were nearly gifted the opening goal after 28 minutes when Ryan Sessegnon's poor nearly allowed Mohamed Salah an easy tap-in, but Hugo Lloris popped up with a vital intervention.

The woodwork came to Liverpool's rescue minutes later when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was given time and space to pick his spot but his drilled effort hit the bottom of the post.
The lively tempo carried over to the second half, but it was Spurs who got the break through on 57 minutes as Harry Kane played in Sessegnon, who unselfishly teed up for Son Heung-min for the simple finish.
Klopp responded with a double change as Jordan Henderson and Robertson made way for Diogo Jota and Konstantinos Tsimikas for the final 25 minutes.
The hosts did manage to get back on level terms with 13 minutes left on the clock as Diaz continued his fine form by firing home a with a deflected effort from distance.
The host threw everything forward in the closing stages in search of a winner, but Spurs defended well and held to secure a point.
