Resurgent Arsenal Humble Leicester

Arsenal continued their impressive form in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

Result: Leicester City 0-2 Arsenal

Venue: King Power Stadium

The Gunners manager Mikel Arteta reverted back to his regular line-up after League Cup win over Leeds United, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette leading the line.

The visitors had a dream start after Gabriel opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a powerful header at the near post after a corner by Bukayo Saka.

Leicester were struggling to settle in the game and Emile Smith Rowe doubled Arsenal's lead in the 18th minute with a well placed strike from a rebound inside the box after the Foxes failed to clear their lines.

However, Brendan Rodgers' men were picking up momentum after the half-hour mark and James Maddison came the closest to pulling a goal back on the stroke of half-time with a curling free-kick towards the top corner that was breathtakingly tipped into the crossbar by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

And Jonny Evans reacted the quickest to the rebound but his shot deflected off Ramsdale and was cleared off the line by Thomas Partey.

Rodgers made a double change at half-time, as Harvey Barnes replaced Daniel Amartey in a tactical and attacking switch while Ademola Lookman came on for Kelechi Iheanacho upfront.

The changes had the desired effect for Leicester, as they were pinning down the Gunners in their own half and creating chances but they were flatly thwarted by Ramsdale on a number of successive occasions.

Barnes had a brilliant chance to pull a goal back for Leicester in the last quarter of an hour after a lovely cross by Youri Tielemans but glanced a free header just wide of the bottom post.

However, Arsenal were able to see out the remaining stages of the second stanza to extend their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches.
