Date: 22 November 2020
Venue: Ellan Road
Club record signing Nicolas Pepe was sent off as Arsenal played to a goalless draw with Leeds United, who hit the woodwork on numerous occasions.
Pepe and Joe Willock were handed starts for the Gunners who were without David Luiz, while Leeds were boosted by the return of Kalvin Philipps.
Leeds should have taken the lead after 11 minutes when Ezgjan Alioski raced to the byline before picking out Patrick Bamford, who was unable to beat Bernd Leno from six-yards out.
The woodwork then came to Leeds' rescue in the 23rd minute when Nicolas Pepe's cross crashed against the crossbar with goalkeeper Illan Meslier beaten on his line.
Leno was called upon 10 minutes later to keep out Bamford's volley from close range after some good work by Luke Ayling, before Alioski fired over the crossbar from the rebound.
After the first half ended goalless, the Gunners were reduced to 10 men five minutes into the second stanza when Pepe was shown a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident with Alioski.
Leeds almost found themselves ahead on 62 minutes, but Leno produced a superb fingertip save to keep out Stuart Dallas' stinging effort from the edge of the box.
Rodrigo nearly put the home side ahead on 79 minutes after cutting onto his left before unleashing a curling effort that crashed against the woodwork.
Bukayo Saka was slipped through on goal five minutes later, but the young winger was unable to beat Meslier one-on-one before Bamford rattled the upright with a powerful header soon after.
Leeds were left frustrated once again in time added on as Raphinha saw his close-range strike crash against the upright as the encounter finished all square.
