Result: Fulham 1-2 Manchester United
Date: 20 January 2021
Venue: Craven Cottage
Manchester United reclaimed top spot in the Premier League as Paul Pogba's stunning strike secured a come-from-behind win over Fulham.
Edinson Cavani, Eric Bailly and Mason Greenwood were restored to the line-up, as Marcus Rashford had to settle for a spot on the bench.
Fulham got the start they wanted as Ademola Lookman latched onto André-Frank Zambo Anguissa's long ball before showing composure to beat David de Gea from a tight angle.
United had to wait until the 20th minute to draw level after Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola pushed Bruno Fernandes' cross into the path of Cavani who made no mistake from close range.
Fernandes looked to add his name to the scoresheet minutes later, but Areola produced a superb save to keep out the United midfielder's effort from the edge of the box.
With Fulham sitting deep after the break and clearing every United cross, it took something special to break their spirit which arrived in the form of Pogba. The Frenchman showed great control to bring down a high ball before unleashing a superb left-footed strike that sailed into the top corner on 65 minutes.
David de Gea came to United's rescue at the other end 10 minutes with a superb save with his legs to keep out Ruben Loftus-Cheek's strike.
Fulham almost snatched the equaliser in second-half stoppage time when Aleksander Mitrovic's goal-bound deflected off Bailly and sailed just wide, as United held on for the win.
