Pirlo has revealed he could have joined FC Barcelona as part of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's transfer in 2010.

The Swede spent only one season at the Camp Nou before joining AC Milan, and the 2006 FIFA World Cup winner has explained that he could have moved to the Catalan giants at the same time.

"With Barcelona, there were negotiations for Ibrahimovic and I was going to be the player heading in the opposite direction," the 38-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

"In the end, it was resolved with only Ibra joining Milan.

"It would've certainly been a good experience, but I was happy at Milan. I'll never know if I would've accepted the move."

Pirlo confirmed his retirement from professional football in 2017, after his contract at New York City came to an end.

Good you didn't go cz you would not hav demented a place there Pep had a personal mandate that was to continue with his player from junior ranks of which we saw Henry,Maxwell, eto, yaya,Keira,M arquez,Abidal,Ronaldinhoand many more but it's only ibra who feel bitter over his decision that guy Pep believe in continuity and he has thing when start a thing he dismantle the existence of the old and rebuild with his own philosophy, players and coaching staff so pirlo you are the best player of all time in own right but there it good for your career not go there otherwise you be forever hurting like Ibra
