Aubameyang Makes Surprise Lacazette Claim
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Makes Surprise Alexandre Lacazette Claim
Arsenal superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made an unexpected admission about strike partner Alexandre Lacazette, whom he used to compete against in France.
The Guinean has been on fire since his arrival in January in London, where he has linked up well with France international Lacazette, who signed for Arsenal at the beginning of the season.
Aubameyang has now admitted that he was perhaps not expecting to get along with his new teammate as well as he has due to their former clubs being massive rivals in Ligue 1 seven years ago.
"My friend Lacazette was at Lyon when I was at Saint-Etienne," he told Arsenal’s official website.
"He's a player I appreciate and was good for me when I arrived here as he's a nice person, very positive.
"I wasn't 100% sure about him when I came here as there were some Lyon players I didn't get on well with – but he wasn't someone I had problems with when I played against them.
"I'm really happy to get to know someone so positive and he helped me settle into the dressing room."
Aubameyang has hit the back of the net six times in nine matches for the Gunners so far, while Lacazette, who has found settling into life in England a bit more difficult, has scored 13 goals in 34 games so far.
