Pep: What Klopp And I Spoke About After Game

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed what he and Jurgen Klopp, who did not look happy, spoke about following their 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

The two English giants played to a stalemate on Sunday evening, with Mohamed Salah converting an early penalty for the Reds, and Gabriel Jesus equalising just after the half-hour mark for the home side.

In the 63rd minute, Trent Alexander-Arnold limped off injured after pulling up following a sprint, leading to many wondering whether or not the league should have allowed teams to continue with five substitutions, especially considering football's current heavy schedule as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

After the game, Guardiola and Klopp were seen embracing each other before getting into a conversation, and the Spaniard has since revealed that it was about the Premier League's apparent unwillingness to protect its players.

"We speak about how we have to fight again and again about five substitutions," he said, according to First Post.

"All around the world, there is five substitutions. Here we believe we are a special league with just three players, we don't protect the players.

"Look at Trent Alexander-Arnold, an international English player, he is injured. That's why it is a disaster.

"With this calendar, which comes from a special year before, I will demand, if the people allow my voice, five substitutions have to come back for the players, the managers, everyone to do it. If not, it's difficult to sustain it."

Klopp also discussed the issue after the game, reportedly accusing EPL CEO Richard Masters of a "lack of leadership", before calling five substitutions "a necessity".
