There have been a few occasions in this campaign when the Citizens boss has highlighted the fact that he does not have a big squad, and with centre back John Stones' recent injury, ESPN believes Guardiola will try to sign one or more of the following stars.
City's No. 1 target for the upcoming window is believed to be Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez. The Chile international was close joining the Etihad club during the last deadline day, but the deal broke down when Arsenal pulled out. The forward is now in the last few months of his contract and will be a free agent next season.
The Gunners could lose another player to their Premier League rivals in Jack Wilshere. The midfielder's career has been hampered by injury and was even loaned out to Bournemouth last season, but Guardiola may be interested in securing his services, according to ESPN.
Algeria international Faouzi Ghoulam is a defensive option Guardiola is currently looking at, especially after the injury left back Benjamin Mendy sustained recently. Sadly, the African has picked up the same knock as the Frenchman, so this seems an unlikely move in January.
Liverpool's Emre Can and Schalke's Leon Goretzka have also been linked with the Premier League leaders in recent weeks. Other European clubs are also chasing the midfield stars, but there is no confirmation as to whether or not either of them would be interested in a move to the Etihad.
