Pep Guardiola's Manchester City Chasing Three Defenders In January?
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is apparently chasing three defenders and is hoping to land at least one in January.
The Spaniard is said to be desperate to sign a new centre-back next month, but it is claimed that he will not be held ransom by other clubs.
According to English publication The Sun, the former FC Barcelona boss is still keen on Southampton's Virgil van Dijk and West Bromwich Albion's Jonny Evans.
The Citizens were linked with the Saints star at the start of the season but pulled out the race for him when their Premier League opponents demanded £70 million (R1.28 billion) for their Dutch defender.
Guardiola then turned his attention to Baggies' centre-back Evans, but after months of back and forth the two clubs could not come to a suitable agreement for the former Manchester United player.
Rumours are circulating that City will try and sign one of these two targets come January, but it is not sure which one will be made their primary target.
Meanwhile, DailyMail also bring Inigo Martinez in the mix. The Real Sociedad defender, who has made four appearances for Spain, has a release clause £29million (R517 million) and could end up being the cheapest option available to City.
The Citizens are currently sitting with John Stones, Benjamin Mendy and Vincent Kompany on the sideline due to injury.
